Straightforward answers to the questions we hear most often about income tax, GST, business registration and compliance.

General

General Questions

Why choose Tax Khabari?

We focus on clear communication and getting the details right — not just filing on time, but helping you understand your own numbers. You work directly with someone who knows your file, not a rotating support queue.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes. All our services are available remotely — consultations happen over call or video, documents are shared securely, and filings are completed without you needing to visit an office.

Which locations do you serve?

We are based in New Delhi and serve clients across India online. Your location does not limit the services we can provide.

How do I get started?

Reach out over WhatsApp or the contact form with a short note about what you need. We will schedule an initial consultation to understand your situation before any work begins.

Income Tax

Who should file an ITR?

Anyone whose income exceeds the basic exemption limit must file. Filing is also required in certain other cases — for example, if you hold foreign assets, are claiming a refund, or need an ITR for a loan or visa application — even if your income is below the threshold.

What documents do I need to file my return?

Typically your PAN, Aadhaar, Form 16 (for salaried individuals), bank statements, and proof of any deductions or investments you want to claim. We will confirm the exact list based on your situation.

What happens if I miss the filing deadline?

A belated return can usually still be filed after the due date, though late fees and interest may apply. It is best to file as soon as possible to limit any additional cost.

I received an income tax notice. What should I do?

Do not ignore it, but do not panic either. Most notices are routine and have a clear resolution. Share it with us and we will review what it is asking for and help you respond correctly and on time.

When is the income tax return due?

For most individual taxpayers not requiring an audit, the due date generally falls on 31 July each year, though the government occasionally extends this. We keep clients informed well before their deadline.

GST

Does my business need GST registration?

If your turnover crosses the applicable threshold for your state and type of business, registration is mandatory. Some businesses — such as those selling across state lines — must register regardless of turnover. We can confirm whether your business qualifies.

What documents are needed for GST registration?

PAN of the business or proprietor, Aadhaar, proof of business registration or constitution, bank account details, address proof of the business premises, and a photograph. Exact requirements vary slightly by entity type.

How often do I need to file GST returns?

Most businesses file monthly, though smaller businesses may be eligible for quarterly filing with monthly tax payments under the QRMP scheme. We will set up a filing schedule that fits your business.

What if I receive a GST notice?

GST notices usually relate to a mismatch or a request for clarification. Send it to us and we will review the details, prepare a response, and handle it within the required timeline.

What happens if I file GST returns late?

Late filing attracts a late fee along with interest on any unpaid tax. Filing on time, even a nil return, avoids this altogether — we send reminders ahead of each due date.

Business Registration

Business Registration

Which business structure should I choose?

It depends on your goals — liability protection, funding plans, and the scale you expect to operate at. A sole proprietorship suits many freelancers, while an LLP or Private Limited company suits businesses planning to raise funding or bring in partners. We will walk through the options with you.

How long does registration take?

Timelines vary by structure and depend on how quickly documents are ready, but most registrations are completed within a few weeks. We will give you a realistic estimate once we know your specific structure.

What documents are required?

Generally PAN, address proof, identity proof of all promoters or partners, and a digital signature certificate for company or LLP registration. We will provide a checklist specific to your chosen structure.

Do you help after the business is registered?

Yes. Registration is just the starting point — we also support ongoing compliance such as annual filings, accounting, and tax planning so your business stays in good standing.

Compliance

Compliance

What is ROC compliance?

Companies and LLPs registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs must file certain forms and returns with the Registrar of Companies (ROC) every year, regardless of whether the business was active. We manage these filings so deadlines are never missed.

What does annual compliance usually involve?

Typically this includes preparing financial statements, filing annual returns, and holding any legally required meetings or resolutions, depending on your business structure.

Can you help with day-to-day accounting?

Yes. We maintain organised financial records and ledgers and provide regular reports, so you always have a clear, current view of your business finances.

Do you help with tax planning, not just filing?

Yes. We look at your situation across the year, not just at filing time, to identify legitimate ways to structure your finances more efficiently.
